Remember this is early access. The encounter is clearly designed with the expectation that Ethel escapes into her lair and you track her there. There are other elements of the planned boss fight that you miss if you just kill her upstairs as well. As a result of early access feedback showing players will try to - and can - finish her off before she makes it to the fireplace and away, presumably this will be tightened up for the full release, either by guaranteeing Ethel’s escape so we can’t “cheat” by killing her upstairs, or else by properly implementing a fight to the end with her in the hut. Or the whole structure of the encounter might be overhauled. We’ll see in August!
