That does sound frustrating if the puzzle wasn’t well designed. I only whinged about WotR because I’ve only recently played it. I’m perfectly willing to believe D:OS and D:OS2 are worse, but I can’t recall D:OS as I played it years ago and have never got beyond the start of act 2 of D:OS2 and don’t recall act 1 anyway so am not able to use those for comparison.

As mentioned, for BG3 there’s no puzzle yet that you need to solve to progress, as there is only one moving parts puzzle and there are various ways around it (finding the lever as mentioned, or just getting to the other side of the door it opens by one of the available alternative routes). But it sounds as though the same was true for an early D:OS2? puzzle and therefore that doesn’t give us too much ground for complacency.
