The first is being accused by NPC characters, of casting magic that I didn't cast. Like, you're standing perfectly still in Druid's Grove or Myconid Circle and suddenly a guard runs up to you with the narrator saying something like "casting unfriendly spells is a sure way to upset the guards" or something like that. It's happened a few times this playthrough. Once, it happened mid-way through a conversation with an NPC.

The second is in the Arcane Tower owned by Lenore the cleric of Mystra in the Underdark. I let a character get close to the Timmask spores and they started laughing. Then, when we walked away the laughter was still playing on a loop. Even as we walked out of the tower, the laughter still played on a loop. It was disassociated with the characters, as if it'd become an ambient soundtrack pegged to the spot where the Timmask spores were located in the tower, but I could hear it even from outside the tower.

You may have used the Friends spell a bit earlier. After the spell wears off, the subject knows they were coerced with magic, thus the comment about upsetting the guards.

Patch 9 certainly led to many reports of oversensitive NPCs, including some that will turn hostile for totally unclear reasons but also more challenges from citizens acting as “guards”. It’s something I’ve noticed and reported as a bug myself.

I’m fairly sure that the Timmask laugh track getting stuck on has been reported here before, too, though not 100% on that.

Hopefully both will be addressed in the full release in August. You can, if you wish and can be bothered, submit a bug report to Larian. They’ve not asked us to stop doing so! But on the other hand the version of the game they’re now working on will be very different from the patch 9 we’re still playing and presumably will have gone through many more stages of internal testing, so it’s your call.

"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
