Do you think Sussar bark would disrupt the Steel Watchers? I just replayed the arcane tower in the underdark and noticed some of the animated armor that fight with Bernard actually tell you if you examine them
…
You know I hadn't put the constructs and Enver together before now. We know Lenore disappeared returning to BG, too.
Me neither, and now it’s pointed out I don’t know why not! I think the Steel Watchers even have some visual similarities with Bernard and gang, at least when it comes to ornate metalwork, though Bernard is more humanoid shaped and faced as befits a companion robot. I don’t think I’ve looked at his friends closely before.
And now I’m racking my brains trying to recall what we know of those arcane tower constructs. I think I’d just assumed Lenore created them without giving it much thought. But she’s a cleric of Mystra and mycologist, so it may or may not be in her skill set. Whereas we know her lover, Yrre, is a maker of many things electrical. Perhaps Yrre made the constructs to keep Lenore safe and connected while they weren’t around, or Yrre and Lenore made them together with Yrre providing the technical expertise and Lenore the magical. And as you say Sozz, we know from finding the note Lenore left for Yrre that she’d gone to Baldur’s Gate intending to be back soon but hadn’t returned. I don’t think we know whether Yrre ever saw the note or whether they may have gone missing even before that? Was there an implication they were overdue when Lenore left?
Are we certain from what we’ve seen that Gortash created the Watchers, or might he be coercing (or just paying) Lenore and/or Yrre to do so? Or could he have stolen or otherwise extracted the secret of their making from them? Or perhaps he knows Lenore and was involved in the creation of her constructs. Either way, she or Yrre might know how to stop them and might be involved in any quest we undertake to do so.
Total speculation of course, but I’ve been hoping we’ll find out more about Lenore and Yrre in the full game, and do like the idea that they may be more connected to events driving the main plot than I’d previously considered. Hmmm.
