Also, 2 facts that people ignored 1. guy was impaled with an anchor. that's a weird weapon, sounds personal. Consider why you would do that, and who could do something like that. (pro tip: not a lanky thief) 2. As we were reminded of with the thief, the elf wasn't robbed, this wasn't done for money, this was to send a message or as an act of revenge.
Werewolf urchin (or urchin with some sort of STR boost) interrupted in the robbery came back to finish the job? Okay, okay, it's unlikely I grant .
I think my problem is, particularly given the magic swirling around Baldur's Gate, is that I can make some sort of story to justify almost any choice, and my real world instincts about what is most plausible don't feel trustworthy in this context. Not that I imagine I'd be a particularly good detective IRL either.
I do agree we're being fairly firmly steered towards the Blushing Mermaid. And, if it's correct that's the location we've seen a few times in the recent trailers, Larian are going to want us to be introduced to it, so hopefully there's not too much risk that option will time out like the retching man.
"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
