I voted for visiting Insight Park, because the whole case could do with a bit more insight. Especially on the part of Tav. Why didn't she take note of the shape and size of the bloody bootprint at the scene of the crime? Besides, if all three deaths are indeed connected, the connection seems to have a nautical side. So I think it makes sense to inspect locations near the shore.

Looking at the murder locations they're all close to the water. Also the description of insight park has us asking if we might find something linking them all together, another point in favor of going there I hope.
What cult is there that is associated with pestilence and the water?

What cult is there that is associated with pestilence and the water? I really don't know if that was meant as a rhetorical question, but at this stage I don't mind upping my knowledge of forgotten realms cults. From the top of my head, I can name about zero. Thankfully, there is this wiki covering Forgotton Realms. It seems there are some watery cults, specifically the Cult of the Crushing Wave and the Church of Sebek (featuring Werecrocodiles). Then there is the Kraken Society, the Cavaliers of the Seven seas, and there appear to be five privateer organisations. As for sea monsters: there are only 175 to chose from. And to my amazement, the Wereshark actually is one of them.

It wasn't, we have a Ripper-esque maniac committing murders in service of a Master, the MO is organ removal and possibly a nautical motif. Fel refers to a Master, we don't know if he's working alone, but the letter implies the Master is doing the murders, with Fel facilitating them.
The Master is refered to as odious, a 'noxious angel', a 'vulgar fiend' and the valediction invokes pesitilence. So if we're looking for a monster, demigod, or avatar of a god doing the murders we have a few clues.
If the Ripper parallel holds, then Fel is the theoretical second person, the possible coachmen who is thought to have written one or two of the letters sent to the police.
The Crushing Wave worship Olhydra, who is referred to as a princess and doesn't seem to have any pestilence associations. Sebek unless we've got a Discworld Noir situation probably would show up in BG, the others also don't really line up

My guess is also the Kraken Society. I've been wondering all along where the giant tentacle came out of the ground that you could see in the Game Awards trailer, and where it destroyed something. Maybe it was Baldur's Gate? A real Kraken in league with the Illithids?

Deep Scion might be a good candidate : shapechanger, Kraken Society, a stunning scream before it attacks...
As for the picture, imho it looks more like the tail of a Purple Worm than a tentacle.

Well I think we've finally solved the mystery of that 'tentacle' in the Game Awards trailer...wait a minute!

I don't think that elf was killed near the fountain. His body could be dragged from the shore to the little plaza. He had no shoes, this makes me think that he was walked on the beach, along the tide line. Nobody wants to ruin their shoes with salt water, right? And an anchor is easier to find where there are lots of boats. I like the detail with fake beard as well. Maybe he was investigating (like Tav) and didn't want to be recognized? About eyes of an elf: there was a false theory in criminology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, that the last thing a person sees before death is imprinted on the retina of his eye. it was called Optography.

I'm not sure how much they'll lean into the Jack the Ripper killings, that might be a little bit of a leap on my part, but it would be fun if Optography came into play.

For my eye we have some references (to Jack the Ripper) - the letter, for example. "Poor dear detective" -> "Dear Boss letter".

Forget it Tav, it's Baldur's Gate. Okay, with significant doubts I finally cast my vote for Silver Crescent Beach, mainly because that death has now come up twice so I feel either it's a genuine lead that we're meant to follow ... or unfortunately that it's a false trail we're meant to fall for. The beach is on 42% right now, ahead of Insight Park at 30%, so looks like we may be heading there to find out which. Though I won't be upset if we end up going elsewhere. It feels like this case is wide open at the moment!

Oh no! Things are hotting up, and after not feeling that there was a burning reason to go to any of the locations over the weekend I now want to go everywhere! I've voted for Shrine of the Suffering this time though, now that our overbearing guard has been confirmed to be involved in the illicit meat trade and that does seem to be connected to our original corpse given the top-hatted mystery man (Fel?) threatened the tiefling middle-man after he discovered the unsavoury nature of the trade and us because we were investigating the murder of the beardless bard. It's all a bit circumstantial though, and could be a wild goose chase. Given what we found at the beach, it seems possible that the dragonborn was also killed at Insight Park so I want to get there at some point and hopefully find out a bit more about that other murder that we have practically no info about. I guess it's also possible that the killing was near Sailor's Crossing given we're told it could have been anywhere along the river. Then there's the lead to the stonemason's and another reference to the Cliffside Cemetery, so perhaps we will get the opportunity to visit there to quiz the dead dragonborn if we pull on that thread more. But as a lead on the meat trade, I figured following up on the guard was a better bet than the butcher's shop, as it sounds as though the butcher only just found out that his "special stuff" was humanoid in origin (anyone else getting echoes of the butcher in League of Gentlemen?) so it feels unlikely his apprentice knows much. Though I am worried about their welfare. Do we think that the butcher was killed because he objected once he found out what he was selling? Do we think we might have been able to save his life if we'd gone to the shop earlier, or could we have hastened his demise?

Initially, Market Street seemed like an odd option to me. I thought to myself, there's been a murder, what do I care about some gossipy and outrageous accusations about monster meat at the market?
Then the butcher from Market Street ends up as another victim.
It makes me think even the most unlikely clues and hunches are going to go somewhere.
Which is good in that I want to know what happened in the city and get familiar with all the locations. Although a part of me would prefer a slightly more thoughtful approach on the part of the players.

One thing that's frustrating is the satchel. I imagine most players would have used the speak with dead coin by now. And probably the invisibility potion, as well.

I'm hoping the game will help us identify the perfect time to get maximum value from these items! By the way what Faerunian creatures are likely to want to eat humanoid meat? I'm wondering if there was a specific target market for it, and if that might help work out the nature of Fel or his Master or provide another lead? Bonus points if there's a nautical connection as well, given that seems likely as we discussed earlier!

I chose Insight Park again, I'd like to know more about the circumstances of the murders, the stuff going on with the meat market might be related but it seems to occur after the fact. Going to the cemetary might also help considering going to the beach didn't really involve a crime scene or body. Though Sewer Keep did stick out considering our Ripper is a noxious angel. The last murder seems to strike the nautical angle we had, but that doesn't mean the extensive sewer system players of BG are familiar with isn't involved.
As for Speak With Dead, I think maybe we're to assume that the bodies have been desecrated, does that keep Speak With Dead from working?
Last thing, not necessarily telling, but each murder has been a different race so far.

i would be shocked if the other two murders were connected to these murders. Again a body washing up on a beach is lazy and boring compared to the work put into these other two deaths. These deaths, as I've always said are personal. someone put a ton of effort into these when there are much easier ways to kill someone. I'm wildly frustrated to see Misty Court is currently in the lead. Market street makes far more sense. He was treated like a slab of meat, and true or not there is a rumour that they are selling monster meat there, that is an actual motive. i don't know what people are chasing at Misty Court, I swear if they are just trying to get close to the Dragonborn body....
