I really wish Larian was clear about this, like a patch that makes a message when you load up the game or something. It's asked a ton on reddit and steam forums. I poor lad was pretty upset he spent 14 hours "for nothing" and had been holding off turning quests in because of the EA level cap, lol.
A lot of more casual newcomers probably don't know that the early access isn't a head start or something and is indeed a very incomplete version of the game that will not transfer to launch.
