I really don't know if that was meant as a rhetorical question, but at this stage I don't mind upping my knowledge of forgotten realms cults. From the top of my head, I can name about zero. Thankfully, there is this wiki covering Forgotton Realms. It seems there are some watery cults, specifically the Cult of the Crushing Wave and the Church of Sebek (featuring Werecrocodiles). Then there is the Kraken Society, the Cavaliers of the Seven seas, and there appear to be five privateer organisations.

As for sea monsters: there are only 175 to chose from. And to my amazement, the Wereshark actually is one of them.

My guess is also the Kraken Society. I've been wondering all along where the giant tentacle came out of the ground that you could see in the Game Awards trailer, and where it destroyed something. Maybe it was Baldur's Gate?
