I always considered stat padding to be lame. If they can increase difficulty through AI and enemy composition without messing up core rules, that is way, wayyyy more interesting way of doing it.

Larian's supposed "brutal" AI was also implemented in DOS2. I don't trust broadcast hardcore AI to actually play worth a damn that they're a legitimate threat.

People have made mincemeat of the /hardest/ settings in DOS1&2. I expect no different of this, especially with the amount of equips and items around. If I trusted their AI to actually be more skilled, I would agree with you.
