I'm pretty sure I saw a quote in an earlier FAQ or perhaps it was that early AMA that said that other ways of setting stats were planned, though I don't think it said which specific ways those were, and even if so that could have changed. This might be something we can hope to get a glimpse of on Friday if we're shown any updated character creation screens.
