Hey everyone! I want to play githyanki as my first character, but can't decide on the looks.

Yes, I understand that there will probably be an increase in customization options on release, but I wanted to 'paint in broad strokes' beforehand, using what we have access to right now.
Sadly, with what we currently have it is substantially hard to make something iconic like this.

I tried to create both 'classic' looks and more extravagant ones.
I spent quite some time creating those and now my perception is a bit blurred.

Which one is the coolest in your opinion? laezelapprove

Note: Cleric equipment is just a placeholder, I am planning this one as either a monk or a fighter.

Oof, these look cool! I'm vibing with #3, but both #1 and #7 have that 'don't mess with me' looks.

hair looks way too pretty in all of them.

BUT, the last one if I was forced to choose.

My preference is for ginger-yanki, and viking-yanki is pretty cool, too. Up-do beardy-yanki feels hella cringe to me, but you do you.

The only one of these that works for me is the last one.

I'd go with the Neanderthal look of number 4. You can always score Gieko commercials as a side gig.

An exercise in futility. Gityanki are ugly as fuck by design.

There is almost exactly the same hairstyle, maybe a bit ... sparser tho.

And yet i dont see you picked that one. O_o

This is so true, but I'll do my best in the coming month to create something decent.
I wanted to inspire myself through some DnD art but the game falls short in terms of customization.

The canonical gith should be yellow(ish) skinned with black-to-red hair and black eyes.
With BG3 it currently doesn't leave me with much creative space for making something natural.

Thanks all for your opinions BTW, on a second look, numbers 3 and 6 seem kinda cringey.
Number 7 started to give me some Viking vibes as well, I guess it could work well because Githyanki are literally space interplanary Vikings laugh

You are right, Rag, there is a similar one, but I don't want my character to be Kithrak Voss Junior... imagine your MC having the same haircut as the potential Githyanki villain feels bad man... at least for me.

Not directly relevant to your question, but the hair style in 6, I'd love to use it for a character, but it's just "Kagha Hair", and that's all I can think when I see it. And dialogs with her, two characters with that same distinctive style? That would be weird and distracting.

Well...yeah, I do wish the player CC choices were out of the game so that at least our Tav feels unique.

Generally I feel as though the hair options are too... clean? Where are messy buns, badly cut shoulder-lenght hair? That is what I imagine people would look on the road, no barbers on hag infested swamps smile

Out of those I'd say 4 looks best, but I don't think it's classic githyanki if that's what you're after.

I'm currently leaning towards hair 29b for my male githyanki PC unless something better comes in August. I think it's one of the ones that was originally limited to male githyanki and it looks pretty authentic to me. (IIRC Voss is hair 30b?). Though of course there's a risk in that case that once we get to the creche we'll find more with the same do, whereas by picking something a bit more out there for gith it's true you're less likely to encounter a doppelganger!

I've tried it along with some other options and the result looks pretty good.
I've noticed that githyanki are often depicted with knots and braids, so I'll either try to expand on this theme or on the contrary avoid it to seek authenticity like in the last look.

I don't know why, but there's a weird uncanny look to the Gith. Reminds me of:

what about number 9 with number 7's hair but dark red hair instead?

10 is barf. That elongated cranium... the point of hair is to hide that shit. Unless you want to see it, but I know I don't

This is some texture glitch with this particular face, I hope they get it right in the release version, because the other faces look fine with this hairstyle. I like how this one pairs with short hair in general though.

Okay guys, thank you all for the input! laezelapprove

After quickly browsing through the PFH for a second time and getting a glimpse of all the new customization options, I tried to goof around with them using photoshop and came with something I'll be content playing.

I borrowed one of the new piercing options that was shown on a gnome character during the presentation:

I also borrowed one of the less intense scars shown during the drow customization:

As a template I took option 5 since I liked it the most and here is the result:
