The kid grew up knowing only the monks and other kids studying there, and always felt like an outsider not just on account of their race, but because they're the only kid who doesn't know their parents. Naturally, they're relentlessly teased by the other kids when the monks' backs are turned, and even though they're bigger and stronger, they can't do a damned thing about it because of the trouble they'll get in. This character has always felt put-upon and helpless, and has no meaningful understanding of the world beyond the monastery.

So one day, they run away to the big city. And the day they arrive in Baldur's Gate? Whoopsie, what's that in the sky? Is it a fucking nautiloid?

So, the tadpole power is their first opportunity, ever, to feel like they have meaningful control of anything in their life. I've never, not once, freed Saza in EA, but I think that's a no-brainer decision in this case, because this character will obviously relate to Saza's situation, projecting heavily and over-reading that feeling.

I also like to think of motivations for why characters make certain crucial decisions. The choice to use the tadpole requires strong justification for me.

Good stuff.
