I realize that there is this possibility, but i simply dont feel the urge to play this game.
(quite the contrary actualy, when someone keeps sugesting it ... it starts a little to feel as anoying as comparing every thing to Solasta -_- )
And i believe you, i bet i would love it as much as you people do ... IF(!) i would get my hands on that game 20y ago, but that was then ... this is now.
Games evolved, and so did we ... and what was then progresive and inovative masterpiece, is now just relic of the past. :-/
I'm with you on this issue. I played BG2 many times, modded and unmodded and enjoyed it very much but that was a long time ago. I have no desire to play BG2 now or probably in the future. I had totally forgotten about the stronghold thing until I read the mention in this thread and even then I had to access the memory banks (which didn't result in many hits :D).
Thus far we have no connection between BG1 & 2 and BG3 other than the BG in the name and Jahiera/Minsc. I await with interest the rationale for the appearance of Jahiera and Bonehead the Barbarian.
I do however feel comparisons with Solasta are valid in that Solasta is both contemporaneous and an implementation of 5e.
