Also, this dragonborn is wearing what seems to be devotion paladin armor, when the one in BiBG was wearing sleeveless sorcerer robes. Or possibly they're monk robes, since those sleeveless robes were also seen in that Baldur's Gate city trailer/teaser. So what's the deal there? Especially since he was described as a sorcerer in BiBG.

Hahaha, on a second thought, they are clearly not G, S and K. They'll pass as some budget version from the multiverse though, and there is somethinf that looks like a portal there as well laugh

I agree on the last day there was no option that would have saved us. I think going home would have been arrested and hung or murdered in cell maybe. Or perhaps the arresting guard would have been the dragonborn in disguise and we would have been bundled down into the cultist lair for the same final cut scene.
I am happy that we narrowly chose to try and get help from the thieve's guild even if it didn't work out. Would have been upset if we had been murdered by walking into the obvious trap without even trying to get aid!

In terms of whether there was ever a good ending I guess we will find out from the panel from hell. It is possible that we missed out on an ally or a magic item that would have changed the final cut scene where we survive and escape even if we don't defeat them.

In terms of Origin characters the final art work in the video where tophat is behind the dragonborn with his hands on the dragonborn's shoulders and a cloud of claws and barbs behind him (0:55) makes me wonder whether the dragonborn had any agency at all. It may be like Astarion where the dragonborn is freed from Top Hat by the presence of the tadpole.

It's true, I still open to the idea that the Master, the noxious angel, is a third-party.

What could that goblin creature be?

Any theories? I don't know anything about 5e outside of bg3.

The Redcap theory seems pretty valid to me.

One more question ...
I thought that Evil Dragonborn are very, very, very and very once more rare ... i know this dont mean impossible, but still ... was i wrong?

"A new way of playing" has me intrigued. I wonder if this dragonborn was being manipulated/controlled to commit the murders and is now in hiding. If you recruit him, maybe you need to clear his name while avoiding detection.

Really funny because one of the players in my TT game recently had a dragonborn sorcerer who was on the run for a crime he didn't commit and had to do the same thing.

Voing for redcap, matches the title of the game, the "for the giggles" reason for the murders, the redcap need for blood, and if the hypothesis of the redcap puppeteering other people through a cult holds truth, the in-game tiny subplot of BOO-AAAAL.

besides, the "whiff of magic" and the thorns feels more feywild than goblin, and the redcaps are more closely associated with that part of Faerun.

I'm very curious what will be revealed tomorrow.

I agree, in this picture, it does look as if the Dragonborn is controlled by Top Hat/Fel. And with the red eyes, the Dragonborn looks "possessed". But it would basically be the same story as Astarion's, being controlled by some master and freed by the tadpole. Would Larian use the same pattern for two characters? Personally, I hope that's not the case, because this would be a bit repetitive.

But the sentence "A new way of playing" is very interesting, and makes me suspicious.

This is again a wild theory, but maybe this could be the new "Evil Route", playing solo as a Dragonborn cultist, as sort of an antagonist.

I've never played the "Evil Route", not only because I tend to play "good" characters, but also because it didn't make that much sense to me. Even if we get a little bit more power through these tadpoles, the risk of eventually turning into Mindflayers wouldn't be appealing. So why join the cultists?
And even if we somehow knew that we wouldn't turn - we would have to fear that the Absolute could control us, anytime. That doesn't sound like something a power-hungry character would want, I think - being someone else's puppet.

Even for Astarion, who is the only one who profits from the tadpole, it wouldn't make sense to keep the parasite. He would swap one master for another - and since his personal freedom seems to be his top priority, this wouldn't make much sense.

So maybe - and I know that this is very speculative- they have changed it a bit to have a true "evil route" for a cultist, this Dragonborn, and the "good route" against the cult of the Absolute (though I think it would still be possible to go the "evil route" with other companions).

Maybe they have even made slight changes for our other companions, like they did with Shadowheart, who seems to be much more friendly now than she was in the first patches.

The one thing that doesn't match up for this scenario is that the Dragonborn seems to be under the control of the top-hatted man. This would severely limit the options we would have as players.

Conclusion: I don't know anything and I make wild guesses 😂

I guess we'll have to wait till tomorrow.

Re Evil Dragonborn:

Good dragonborn were fairly common, but dragonborn were as fallible to evil as any other race. The passionate nature of dragonborn could make the race brutal or vengeful and given to hasty choices that were morally compromising.

I've been only half-following this thread because I didn't play the detective game. From how it was teased initially, I figured it was just some gimmicky marketing thing that was irrelevant to BG3 itself. But it sounds like that's not necessarily the case?

If one didn't play BiBG, are there BG3 story elements that might be missing?

Re:missing story elements I dont think Larian would assume people played the pre-release web game as maybe 1% or less of total players would have done so. Any thing important that came up in the webgame would be stated in game.
I think the web game might just give a bit more depth or flavor vs in game explanation.

Re: Same plot line as Astarion I agree Larian are probably too good writers to use the same element twice. Just hard to see any sort of possible redemption arc for an origin character unless they were forced to engage in brutal mass murder. But then I also dont understand what a new way of playing means as it could mean anything. Will see at the panel from hell.

Which means that it was before Bhaal was reincarnated. If it is a cult, it could somehow be part of the the conspiracy that led to the story in Murder in Baldur's Gate adventure.

I know that the game is done, but "Fel" of the fancy top hat is already mentioned in EA.

Specifically,
if we kill the Gur and then manage to apply Speak with the Dead, he says that the head of his tribe is Maiden Fel, and that is the person who charged him with tracking down Astarion.

Sources if you don't want to reload:

M. Fel.

I had assumed that 1) "Maiden Fel" was a woman, and 2) That this murder-hobo moment is for Astarion's arc - but now I wonder if in the final game this scene will be taken from Astarion and given to a Dark Urge PC.
