Eldad: Thanks for the info. I actually did go through a minor/major adjusting of settings from resolution, color depth, audio acceleration, etc. As mentioned in my first post, I tried to read up and get as much info from others who had a similar problem and attempt their possible "cures".
I decided to reinstall one last time. I now can attack the Ork drum warriors without a crash... unfortunately, when I decided to use a crossbow and attempt a "hit and run" with one of the giant blue ork's (can't remember the name), the game crashed to desktop. I swopped to bow, and as soon as the first arrow is away... crash. ??? Restart computer, run divine divinity again... try bow... crash. Run divine divinity again... try crossbow... crash. I thought I should just play without using the bows, but after all the problems, whatif I get to another important point and it crashed?
Oh well, oneday when I change my system, I will try again.
Wait a minute snobee.
I hope you are not standing on your keyboard at those critical moments, are you?
I mean, do you get excited and hit ten keys along rather than the CTRL and the mouse left button, this could be a reason you know.
If it is not that bad, then why would a ranged weapon crash your system!
Do you see any arrows penetrating your monitor and hitting your coffee mug?
Ok, some seriousness now.
Do you install the game on drive c and in the default directory?
Does your system have any other kind of problems with the CD drive such as not finding it occasionally?
Do you smoke?
The last question is not a joke at all, because you shall be surprised to know that if you do smoke then clean your CD lens every day, and I mean every day, because the freaking technology cannot tolerate nicotine skin on lens; use 99% ethyl alcohol on the tip of an ear cleaner and you shall be very happy thence after.
Critical moments are only just events that a program may use to test authenticity of the game or load sound effects or load animations from hard disk. If you already took care of the acceleration problem, then you are left with run time loading events and authenticity checks. If only Orcish drummer (tough guy) or Orcish blue giants (another tough guy) are causing the problem, then reconsider my jokes above and try to control your emotions.
You might be shaking your laptop or your mother board, and next time Red Indian signals shall be observed to rise from the back slots.
Can you hunt rabbits in Aleroth with your bow as a test please?
Or try your bow on the frogs in the river too, and see if the system crashes or not.
We need data; we need input, input, because we are having a short circuit here, here, here, here.
………………………
Oink.
