I do wish it had been an additional companion though.
I'd rather have the additional companion ( read: Helia) than another angsty emo stuff - we have enough with the other origins already. Why can't Larian do normal for a change?

They can't. They do everything in excess.

Yeah, it seems that way, this is my first Larian game. I still probably will love BG3, but I can do without that angsty juvenile edgy stuff.

You know ...
The more i think about it, the more i wonder how hard it would be for Larian to make an Light Urge as a counterpart.

You know, someone who is by some mysterious force compelled to refuse rewards, altruisticly offer himself to anyone, throw themselves to danger without single thought just to save a kitten (i mean, who wouldnt right?), spend our gold and loot to charity ...

Would be good joke imho.

Huh. Well, that's... neat, I guess, and very innovative/different/ambitious/etc. But not something I'll ever be using.

Hmm, a Light Urge could be fun too honestly. It would be interesting seeing someone compelled to self-sacrifice to the point of potentaily sabotaging themselves and the push and pull of that.

But regarding the Dark Urge itself, I am definitely disappointed that we aren't getting another good-aligned companion, but I will admit that objectively, this dark urge is a really interesting idea. Possibly even a great one. I might just play as it for a later playthrough, it seems like it would be good for playing as a character grappling with that darkness to ultimately rise above it.

It's not just me then. Jaheira's looking good but I'm not sure I could live with that accent.

I'll admit, I rather love her accent, it is a delight to listen to for me.

A Russian-ish accent has been my go-to D&D accent for decades because of Minsc and Jaheira. Bring it on.

Swen practically confirmed that Jaheira is more neutral than good, just as many of us here said. So the 10 companions are: 4 evil (incl. 1 to be redeemed?), 3 neutral, 3 good. Among the subset of 6 origins it is 3 evil, 2 neutral, 1 good.

Plus an evil origin skin for the custom PC.

Pretty clear where Larian's preferences are at.

Unfortunately, I haven't finished watching the panel yet, and since it's already almost morning, I think I'll continue to watch it tomorrow.

I'll wait with a real feedback until I've watched the whole show, but there is one point that had been mentioned here in this thread, and it seems we have a confirmation by the writers for this.

(I had already written this in the PFH-Feedback thread, but I hope it's ok when I mention it here, too, since it is a response to a post made in this thread)

I think that this has been confirmed today, and I like that very much. I always assumed that this is possible, because I think that our companions are complex, nuanced and well written characters, with the potential to develop in different directions. I like character growth and development, very much so.

(I hope I got this statement from the associate lead writer correct)

"Companion characters have the potential to grow and develop in interesting ways, and indeed the thing that makes them, that often kind of incites that within them or can urge them along the journey or block them on that journey, is you, the player, and it's very much you who is influencing how they develop and who they become."

And there's a statement from another writer: that it's sometimes actually better to have an argument and challenge your partner about their way of thinking.

I like to play my characters like that: listening to the companions, being empathetic (is that the correct word?) but still also making very clear what they consider unacceptable.

Sometimes, I almost feel like I have to justify myself here for thinking that the characters are well written and interesting, and that I like this game a lot already. 😄
(I know, this is my fault or problem, I don't blame anyone else for it)

We all have different expectations when it comes to games, and that is perfectly fine.
