I went from being reasonably enthusiastic about the game as of earlier today to now wondering if I'll even consider buying it even if it does come out on Xbox due to the decision to include bestiality in the game. Some things just go too far and the promotion of animal abuse, even under the excuse that it's a druid shapeshifter or as a "joke" (not at all funny), is just one of those things. frown

I'd been trying not to pay too much attention to the hype of the game to avoid too many spoilers, but then I hear about this today and I'm just feeling disgusted that something like this would be included. It's one thing to make jokes about fantasy creatures that don't exist in real life, but bears and other animals are real and do get abused by the kinks and perversions of evil human beings and I don't know why this game would promote it as a "romance" option. It's anything but.

Its a dnd game. An entire class, the sorcerer, is build around magical beasts making babies with humanoids.

Its really hard to believe posts like this are in good faith

Seriously - its a choice ....you dont need to see the content if you dont want to - like they said you will see only a very small percentage of the game unless you do multiple playthroughs so you're talking literally hundreds of hours of game time - to say you wont play or purchase the game because of one scene that you can obviously avoid seems to be cutting off your nose to spite your face in the most ridiculous way .

Interesting. I remember playing a sorcerer character back in D&D 3ED and don't recall ever participating in anything even close to bestiality or being required to as a function of the class. My how times have changed since then. Now I'm feeling even less enthusiastic about the game considering there is now an entire class literally focused on bestiality along with the bear porn that is mislabeled as a "romance".

If child porn were hidden somewhere as a so-called romance option, it doesn't at all make such child abuse okay just because we can choose not to participate if we don't want to. There is no excuse to celebrate or joke about the abuse of animals.

And if you are familiar with the franchise, it is very very common for people to play for years going through many playthroughs. I loved BG1 and BG2 but I'm no longer feeling very good about this one....at all.

Its not beastality when it's consenting magical beasts with the intelligence of humans. Also it's pretty dang hypocritical of you to be fine with bg1 and bg2 as it's hard to argue a mortal could ever properly concent to being impregnated by a god. Especially with Baal's whole plan

No one is making such a ridiculous argument because what Bhaal did was mass sexual violence and assault and he was recognized as an evil god. And yet oddly none of these sexual assaults were considered to be legitimate and desirable "romance" options because it is a line that should simply not be crossed, even in a fantasy video game. Child and animal abuse are also lines that should not be crossed or encouraged and not be available for players to even be tempted to participate.

And this is the last I'm going to make of this argument. I typically don't participate in the forums much even though I've been playing Larian's games for many years, but finding out about this bear thing has really made me seriously unhappy and I've said what I want to say about it. I have no further interest in arguing back and forth for the next 20 or more posts, so I won't. I'll see what the game is actually like by the time it comes out for Xbox and make my final decision at that point, but right now I'm feeling glad that I have many other games in my backlog to play.

Its a concentual act between too characters. It's not animal abuse.

Also Abazigal was in the original games so again you are being hypocritical.

Massive difference between alluding to actions and showing them in detail.

I'm just watching the PfH - and with all the controverse stuff, no one mentioned, how nice Baldurs Gate is looking, I really dig that.

I love Gale’s cat! I wonder if Gale would mind if Tav brings the cat to camp!😊

I'm now at the Infamous scene and I wonder, if Halsin is not a very competent archdruid , because he doesn't seem to be in control of his shapeshifting, or If he is indeed a werebear, which would make his accident shapeshifting maybe a bit more believable.

I thought they were just trying to add flavor to the shapechanging. Nothing that would ever impact combat, but just some fun roleplaying type stuff, suggesting that druids often get lost to their somewhat preternatural instincts.

I think equating that with being a bad druid is... well, I guess it's just missing the flavor.

He is supposed to be an archdruid though ...

I'm pretty sure about it, since he is basically the Helia replacement - that would give that scene, where he involuntarily changed shape, a whole new meaning.

Btw: Jaheira - how cool does she look? I said, that I was not excited about seeing old characters back, but at least, they did do good by her.
