I was able to do it legit with a barbarian Tav, Laezel, Shadowheart and Us, I used shield of faith on the mindflayer and hoped for the best. Honestly not that hard if you know the tactic but it involves quite a bit of luck. Else you can always cheese it with either explosive containers or by leaving a companion near a healing pod.
