Hello
I am surprised to see all these messages !
Yes the 14th of july is the national day in France.
About history i don't have to add a lot, every one gave a part of it.
La Bastille was a prison in Paris.
Most of the prisonners were politic prisonners, they were thrown in jail by the only decision of the king.
La Bastille was a politic symbol, a symbol of the monarchy.
On the 14th of july, the french people took La Bastille, and since this day everything was over for the monarchy.
Three days later, the king Louis XVI, his wife Marie Antoinette and their son, tryed to escape from their castle in Versailles to go in Austria.
But they were caught in a small place called Varennes.
They were put in jail and a few months later their heads were cut off.
During this period a lot of aristocratic heads were cut off, it was a very bloody period.
I guess DEATHATTHEDOOR would have liked to live at that time.
In memory of this day, the 14th of july, in the morning there is a large military procession on the avenue of the Champs Elysées.
And at night there are fireworks, and people used to dance in the street.
