start google and search for it. it´s an important thing in the history. the fight of regular people against the aristocratic people for example.

read it. i had it at school in teh 8th grade, when i was 14 years old. so u don´t have to study for learning history.

Yeah, that's an important landmark in history:
Not only it's the first revolution but it was when Louis XVI was killed, Napoleon came to power and the french conquest begun.

Conquest/Destroying of the Bastille on that day (the state prison in Paris). Lead to the end of French monarchy (well, started again as Napoleon crowned himself later on ) - also called the French Revolution, changed world history = fall of monarchies, cry for freedom, democracy.

Happy 14th July all you French gamers here

To be more exact, the conquest of the Bastille was a big step for the revolutionaires but still all they got from it was gunpower and weaponry.
The end of the monarchy was when Louis XVI wanted to run for... I think it was Austria. He was cought and was decapitated by his own Guilliotine... Well, M. Guilliotin designed the machine but it was Louis XVI who proposed the triangular blade.

Hello

I am surprised to see all these messages !

Yes the 14th of july is the national day in France.
About history i don't have to add a lot, every one gave a part of it.

La Bastille was a prison in Paris.
Most of the prisonners were politic prisonners, they were thrown in jail by the only decision of the king.
La Bastille was a politic symbol, a symbol of the monarchy.
On the 14th of july, the french people took La Bastille, and since this day everything was over for the monarchy.

Three days later, the king Louis XVI, his wife Marie Antoinette and their son, tryed to escape from their castle in Versailles to go in Austria.
But they were caught in a small place called Varennes.
They were put in jail and a few months later their heads were cut off.

During this period a lot of aristocratic heads were cut off, it was a very bloody period.
I guess DEATHATTHEDOOR would have liked to live at that time.

In memory of this day, the 14th of july, in the morning there is a large military procession on the avenue of the Champs Elysées.
And at night there are fireworks, and people used to dance in the street.

Hello Carrie
Yes we celebrate blood and death.
We celebrate the first end of the monarchy.
Because the monarchy came back in France two times after that.
And even in 2003, there are people who could be kings and the monarchy could come back again !!!
