hmm...i think perhaps native americans and inuits and such discovered canada.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> since they were there first, anyway. the cave people who crossed over into north america discovered it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

I did say he was the first European to land on Canadian soil....

There is evidence vikings have been in North America.

And for the Flemish here.
That area below Greenland is Baffinland/Baffin island. Named after an English sailor.
It's not Boffinland and has nothing to do with a certain Belgian soccerplayer.

Oh Brother!!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I did say he was the first European on Canadain soil besides the vikings...
There is evidence of Vikings being in NewFoundland. They have dons digs, and found remains ect. Very cool.
But, yes Faile, of course the Natives were here first. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> But, who knows, with land bridges ect before the ice ages, who knows who else was here... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Hello Carrie

Thanks for your answers and your interesting links about Cadada.
I liked the maps.
I found Edmonton on the map, and now i can imagine how far of Europe you live.

Barta & all our friends from France: happy 14th! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/party.gif" alt="" />

janggut: "On July 14, 1789 the masses banded together and stormed the Bastille prison, a symbol of the corrupt political system. This began the [French] Revolution. The following year on July 14th delegates from all regions of the France gathered in Paris to celebrate the Fête de la Fédération and proclaim their allegiance to one national community."

If you have some free time you should read the topic since the beginning.
A lot of people gave info about the French History and Carrie gave also interesting info about the Canadian History.
