The question is clear, Larian, why no dwarves? No dwarf party members, no dwarf origins, no dwarf romances. Unless I missed something or yiu keeping them as a surprise, why no sexay dwarf women to bang? Thats just rude. Us dwarf lovers need some loving too. Elves, lizards, dragons, bears, and more... but, no dwarves? Come on. Don't pull a Bio... be inclusive. Thanks. I promise , at minimum and 8.5 rating if not higher if we get a sexy beardless (no lotr nonsense) dwarf lady to romance. This can't be top much to ask for.

Dwarves, gnomes, and halflings all seem to have suffered from a lack of attention in BG3. Honestly Sven's obsession with tossing gnomes around speaks volumes. I always thought Nettie would have made a better (and more appropriate) companion than Halsin (sorry Icelyn).

The dialoges already get awkward with shorter race npcs. Shorter playable characters will be even more awkward

Dude, they have 7' tall dragon born. They have drow which are really short even in comparison to other elves often being under 5'. They already have dwarven PC characters so clearly having dwarves and other short races in cutscenes is not an issue. To my knowledge, all the romancable characters can be romanced by the short races so that's not the issue.

If YOU can gave a bear to have sex with (not for me, but hey, its an option); I should be able to have a dwarf woman to have sex with. Equality, right?

Sven is pretty tall from what I understand.

I hear ya! I mean, it's not like I'm gonna have sex with a *male* bear, amirite? That would be weird. It's girlie grizzlies all the way for us, amirite? High-five!

Since my earliest days of Dnd, I have been partial to playing dwarves. 3.0 dnd phb IMO has the best rendition (artwork) of any dwarven character ive ever seen. Love them. Not a fan of the tolkien type of dwarf, visually that is.

with that said , I dont feel jypped one bit about not having a dwarf origin character , or a female dwarf to have romance with in the first act.

who knows , what the future holds. Maybe there will be in the future acts of the game. Not Origin characters but henchman and such.

Either way im happy to be the Dwarf.

DRAGON FIRE-AND DOOM Dragons? Splendid things, lad-so long as ye look upon them only in tapestries, or in the masks worn at revels, or from about three realms off...

If a certain other unmentionable bear post is to be believed, pretending to be a short person is basically pretending to be a different type of small person, and is therefore a no no. I think this was the same logic they used in DAI, which locked out our favorite scout as a romance option.

I'm sad about the lack of the shorter races too.

Now that I think about it, it may well be a dev time cost that they didn't want to spend. If just the PC can be short, then you only have to program for male and female scenes with at most one short (or tall for Dragon born) partner in one configuration. If you include both extra sizes as NPC relationships you just tripled the number of scenes you have to account for. That's a lot of dev work.

In addition to just short-normal, normal-normal, and tall-normal; you have short-short, short-tall, normal-short, normal-tall, tall-short, and tall-tall.

I think that the devs, or at least Sven, just find short races to be a joke. The way he talked about throwing gnomes and halfligns dring the PFH was telling. As was the way that during the bit where they were going through each race to showcase the character creation they just ignored halflings and Sven made a joke about them. And halflings also don't get another body shape apparently.

Not only halflings, same works for half-orcs, dragonborn and githyanki.

I give Larian the benefit of the doubt that this might have been the reason, but most likely, we'll never know if this was the case.
But personally, I think that this is such an important part that they should have invested a bit more dev time in this.

And I would have preferred if Swen hadn't made jokes about halflings and gnomes, too.
I am a bit boring and mostly play elves or tieflings, but I wouldn't make jokes about halflings, dwarves or gnomes.

(Something completely unrelated: does anybody happen to know what kind of dialect Nettie speaks?)

Romances involving dwarves might trigger an adverse reaction from people on the internet... XD
