Not only halflings, same works for half-orcs, dragonborn and githyanki.
Where did you get that?
From the PFH, there is a body type panel in the bottom right corner, if you watch the record on 0.25 speed you can clearly see that some have races have 2 options (I suspect female and male body) and other have 4.
I can confirm this from my own experience of the game. I didn't go through every race, but noted that human and elf have 4 body types (male normal/buff and female normal/buff) whereas halflings, half-orcs and dragonborn have just two (male and female).
I didn't note how many types there were for dwarves but that probably can be spotted in the PFH playback.
They weren't put off by a BEAR sex scene. That makes me doubt Larian was really concerned by the chance of peerl clutching at having sex scenes with adults who are short but proportioned hardly at all like children. Plus we can be short races, as everyone points out.
I agree with this. Whatever the reason for not having shorter race characters among the companions (which I, like others, am disappointed about), I don't believe for an instant it has anything to do with equating them to children. In fact, I suspect that Larian writers would be keen to actively push against such an attitude, and the shorter race NPCs we do have don't strike me as either childlike or desexualised.
Plus, as others have said, our custom characters or Dark Urges can be shorter races, and Larian haven't shied away from allowing them to have sex with other races.
I think we are safe to put that theory about the rationale out of our minds and look elsewhere.
