Everyone seems confused about this 72 hour early window.
Is it still a thing?
Who gets it?
If you buy the early access game now will you get to play 72 hours before the release on Aug 3rd?

I do believe this is the third thread about the subject in as many days. And at this point, it seems our only sure way to know is to see what happens on July 31st.

If you bought the early access on pc, you get the deluxe edition for free. Which includes the 72 hours early access to act 1.

It will take 144 hours to download...

The question is what is defined as "early access". When you buy the game right now is that still EA or already preorder without the 72 hour benefit.

Well, unless the FAQ has been undated since the PFH, there is now some question as to whether or not the moved up release date essentially removes the 3 day early access. So the question the OP put forward is a valid one, and Larian has been unclear with their responses so far.

It should be clarified soon, but my understanding is that the 72 hours early access to act 1 is no longer a thing and instead everyone on PC gets access to the full game on 3 August.

What I don't have any info on is when or whether free upgrades to Digital Deluxe cease - is it on 2 August or might it be sooner? At the moment, the Steam page for example still says "Early Access" so I'd assume if you bought now then you'd get the upgrade, and it's basically like a preorder bonus.

But hopefully we'll see the FAQ updated soon to remove all doubt.

I think I saw people saying that this question was going to be answered on Monday. Well, Monday isn't over yet, so I guess we'll have to wait?

The deluxe edition includes a 72-hour early access. If you already have the game on pc or have recently bought the early access version on pc, Sven said we get the deluxe edition upgrade for free as a “Thank You” for supporting them in early access.

So if I buy the Early Access version now I should be grandfathered in with the digital deluxe edition and thus have advanced access to the full game?

Digital Deluxe upgrade absolutely, if Digital Deluxe still gets an Early Access period is still pending a more formal answer from Larian given what The Red Queen is saying in this thread.

I thought Larian was planning to clear this question today. O_o

The last time I checked the description of the Deluxe edition, it mentions the 72-hour early access to act 1. The issue is, I only saw it available for PS5. There is no deluxe edition on PC for sale. From what Sven said, it seems they are choosing to give the PC players the Deluxe edition for buying the "Early access/beta game" because we supported them these last two/three years.

Swen confirmed at the Panel from Hell that the 3 day Early Access had been replaced with a 28 day early access and we were all getting the PC version on August 3rd.

But there are also screenshots floating around re-confirming that the three day early access is still in effect, hence people's confusion.

Swen, the CEO of the company, is pretty clear.

They also updated the Community Update 20 Page. It now reads:

Yesterday the Quick note had old information about the 72 hour window.

Wait... He makes sound like Aug 3rd is only for people who ordered early access there!
