Notes:

Respect through withers for 100 golds
Withers will automatically show up at camp if you miss him
Cannot change your race once you start.
+2/+1 is tied to CLASS - but can be changed.
Other racials still in place.
Some dialogues are not present when you change class due to tag changes.
One of each class hirelings available. (can you respec hirelings?)
Warlock has pact of the Blade, Chain and Tome. (shown)
Itemization is a huge deal in this game
Human has gained some racial proficiency (Spears, Halberds, Glaives and Light Armor AND extra 20 lbs carry weight!)

Tadpole:
Can still manipulate with tadpole
The new character is called The Guardian - replacing Daisy/dream person
You can
collect tadpoles from true Souls you kill and then you can insert them into your head to gain additional abilities.

Are your spoilers put correctly?

- Floating stats => cool
- Respec by gold with locked race => cool
- Tadpoles powers => I always expected them to work this way, and I'm really interested to see how these will works out

Dammit, I need to go out for a while, but thanks for sharing and I'll look forward to watching when I get back. It'll be good to have some more hard facts to work with grin

I'm glad you can't change race with a respec. I don't really like that you can change the class of the origin characters, that doesn't really make sense given their class is so tightly bound to their story and it seems like doing so may break some things. I thought being able to multiclass them was plenty of flexibility. 100 gold seems cheap, I wonder if it scales with level?
Its good that you can get hirelings very early, it should help with the people that really want normal characters in their party, although I wonder if they will also have locked races?
Looking forward to more details on multiclassing.

Edit: Also holy %#$# pack of the blade essentially gives you the hexblade ability of using your spellcasting stat - going to make a lot of paladin warlocks happy with that! Has to be one of the most requested class features.

So Gale being a barbarian with no spellcasting ability makes sense?
Astarion the oath of devotion paladin?

I mean I agree that it would be fun / very silly to make all the starting companions the opposite of their defaults but surely it would also make scenes not make sense at all?

Gale has been retconned heavily, do we already know how much is he a wizard now? That said, there are a few choices that make more sense than others. A gythianki soldier can easily be fighter, barbarian paladin or monk. A slave from hell can be pretty much anything. A vampire spawn can be pretty much anything. Anyone can worship a goddess without becoming a cleric of trickery. Anyone can make a pact with a devil without becoming a warlock. Then there is Gale.

I have to stress that I'm speaking without context though or, more friendly, I'm speaking bullshit. I haven't played the early access so I know the characters only by their descriptions.

I just hope I can safely ignore the tadpoles without gimping my character(s) too much, as I have absolutely no interest in them.
At least the respec isn't totally free and you can't change your race, losing certain dialog with companions if you respec them to a different class is a rather good thing.

Watching the video has greatly increased my desire to have 5E mod to get rid of all that Larian homebrew stuff I'm not even remotely interested in (like the special attacks with weapons).

Not to me, but maybe it does to someone.

Look, I don't agree with changing the classes of the origin characters either - and while I do think you should be allowed to take them back to level 1 and respec them from there - it's ultimately not up to me how other people play this game in single player.

AND we don't actually know that we can respec the Origin characters to a new class - we know we can multiclass them - but it would be a very odd choice to change their initial class because I feel that would break a lot of story. However, I don't really know.

Nevermind - apparently you can change the origin classes.

Special attacks with weapons are kin to the weapon traits that has being introduced in 5.5e, am I wrong?

Those special attacks are now part of the new DnD One but they are tied mostly specifically to fighters - a lot of the stuff in the final game are changes that reflect the updated rules they are working on.

Watched the video (and I tend to not look at "content creators") based on recommendation in other thread since it addressed respec/multiclassing and am not disappointed. The extra power stuff seems cool but there's still no way I'm feeding that thing. Get it ooouuuut.

Have you played D:OS or D:OS 2 by chance? Then you should know them, things like a bleed for axes or stun for blunt weapons, etc.

I don't follow the 5.5 E playtest closely, I've seen the first two I think and they've killed any interest in the new edition for me,I'll go back to 2nd Ed. as that is more my kind of thing.

Thanks for the video

I do not mind the changes to stats. I would have prefered the original DnD rules though. In many cases you can chose the stats that your char would get by race. But if anyone can take any +2/+1 bonus I see no reason to take a human (unless they get a feat).

Now the toadpole seems to be a huge change.
When I played EA for the first time I absolutely avoided using the toadpole. Because being turned into a mindflayer or being manipulated by an unknown entety sounds really bad. So I never met the daisy in the dream and I did not get powers.

I have no idea what this "guardian" is. But putting several of these toadpoles into my head sounds like a really bad idea. In EA many mayor quests are about getting this thing out of our heads, not getting more of them in.
Lets put it that way: If the good ending requires you not to use toadpole powers and get rid of these things while the evil path gives you a whole skill tree full of powerful feats then they made a really big incentive to be evil devil

Seriously stop sayin BS because you like a feature lol.
No Gale as a Barbarian, Shadowheart as a Druid and Lae'Zel as a bard does not make any sense story-wise.

I also thought that multiclassing would have been enough... But it looks like Larian does not care to offer companions a narrative that doesn't make any sense for the sake of gameplay choices. Definitely something I'm not in line with.

That said in a comment : fextralife said that he talked about it with devs and that they were not sure if this would be in the game at release or not.

Floating stats is idiotic. Sadly there are too many whiners out there who refuse to "roleplay" something without maxed primary stat so that WotC and Larian robs the different races of flavour and immerson to appease them.
