The PC Digital Deluxe Edition does not include a 72 hour head start, which would have essentially made the game’s release date July 31st. Shifting the release date – and thus communication around the Digital Deluxe Editions across PS5 and PC – came with a few complexities that we didn’t manage to communicate very well, so we thought it best to clarify it here, given that a 72 hour head start on PC wouldn't have been plausible.

So much more info in there so give it a look.

As Swen said at the Panel from Hell: "The 72 hour Early Access was replaced with a 28 day early Access and we get the full game on August 3rd"

The three levels of content filter is reassuring for a lot of streamers, I bet.

Not what I hoped for of course, but it was to be expected. It's just 3 more days after all, not the end of the world.

Those three additionnal days would have probably been needed just to download the game anyway 😁

"Every relationship you forge is different, reflecting the personality and personal arc of that character over the course of the game. Some may begin with a steamy Wild Shape transformation, others start cautiously and require more attention to foster a deeper connection. Relationships change over time, and neither you nor your partner will be the same person in Act 1 as you are by the game’s end."

Damn so bearback is foreplay for Halsin.

That might be reasons enough for Steam to allow refunds. Considering all that nonsense that is coming to light its something to think about.

Extremely disappointing and highly unethical behaviour.
I have lost a lot of trust in Larian over this. Will certainly be thinking twice before preordering again.
If you can't honour your own sales offers , how can I trust anything you say.
You will ofc try and spin this with the new release date even thought no release date was ever part of the sales offer...

They improved on their offer for everyone.

A rising tide lifts all boats.
Besides early play won't even an initial pre-order bonus, it was a freebe added on later.

Nice try.
Larian has one sidedly devalued the preorder by removing a service, specifically the 3 day headstart. The move of the release date has nothing to do with it as this is for everyone.

Now that the update is also live on our forums at https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=860777#Post860777, I suggest we take further discussion on the update there.

This situation could have just been avoided if Larian announced an august 6th an 3 day early for preorders. Now it is just easy metaphorical ammunition for players to hit them with.

Thanks for the link.

I'm extremely disappointed in how hirelings will apparently be handled. Was expecting and hoping for blank slate characters like the PC, not just more Origin characters with no origin.

If you wish to hold them to their word:
  • Wait until August 28th
  • Play only the first act of the game until August 31st
  • On August 31st play the full game

That's what was promised.
Whatever you do, do not enjoy the game when it is released 25 days earlier than was promised.
If you can't honour your commitment to play on August 28th how can we trust anything you say.

I am surprised no one is commenting on the killing rats in the cellar thing.

As it relates to hirelings i think the jury is still out from my vantage. I havent seen anything that has stated i cant make 3 chars who are fully custom and play with them as companions. Still looking to do an all custom Elf (fighter, rogue, mage, cleric) playthrough.

Nice try fanboy.

The pre-order didn't even initially have early play. It was an added free bonus besides doesn't Steam already let you refund pre-orders no question up to 14 days before reguardless?

There might be a few people petty enough to refund over something like that. Honestly I doubt it though. People concern trolling these threads probably were never interested in buying the game in the fist place, they just enjoy hating on it.

Either way swen got exponentially more sales from moving up the release date than so c'est la vie.

It takes a special kind of idiocy to complain about getting a game 25 days earlier than was promised.
