There's a reason if the official material warns every DM strongly against these types of homebrew
Honest question: where? As far as I remember the PHB suggest and push towards homebrewing far and wide.
This is the part where I waste a couple of hours tracking back the exact quote and then people says it doesn't matter anyway, because it's not a problem for them. Isn't it?
