Just an FYI for those who might have to adapt their current rig:

You will need 150 GB of available space and an SSD is required.

GeForce NOW is also an option for those who can't update.

Uh oh, I think I am a little bit below the minimum requirements. Maybe I will just have to watch other people play it on youtube.
But I do have a SSD - love it!

Not to sound like an imbecile, but does the game have to be ON the SSD, or can its files be transferred to an external drive? Cause I can’t just delete my work lol

Probably?

Usually SSD requirements are for smooth cut-scene playback so if you don't have an SSD there might be some stuttering in cinematics.

If a game has SSD as a requirement it's still typically possible to play it from a regular disk. But it will be a much worse experience with really abysmal loading times at least. Investing in a cheap external SSD might be the way to go if your patience isn't infinite.

I found a decent primer on running games off an SSD:

It should answer most of your questions.

How the heck to find out whether I have a SSD or not? Sorry if that's a noob question but I'm not exactly tech-savvy...

For external SSD you will also need a high speed USB port to avoid performance issues.

I will assume you got a prebuilt pc, go to your C: folder, right click -> Properties and go to the tab Hardware. Copy the model and throw on google it should reveal if its an SSD or not.

Thanks for the explanation smile

From the looks of it I'll be fine, I was a bit worried since my PC isn't exactly new.

Alternatively you can type Device Manager in the Windows Search field beside the Windows button on the bottom left of your screen.
Double click on Disk Drives.
You should see your disk drive displayed.
For example : INTEL SSDPEKNW512GB

If you see the letters SSD you have a solid state drive.
If you see the letters HDD you have a hard disk drive and may need to update.

I'll probably wait for the PS5 version. I did play early access but I have a laptop and it ran OK. But I think it would run better on PS5 for now.

Oh, it requires an SSD, does it?

I will be very surprised if that's true, 'cuz the EA runs very well from an HDD.

I feel like "requires SSD" is just some meme every dev adds to their requirements now, just in case. Can't complain about the game running like shit from an HDD if the requirements clearly state it requires an SSD.

I'm wondering if the SSD thing is Steam or Larian.

I don't understand what the difference would be between an SSD and an HDD other than transfer rate.
