I'm liking the theory that
all of the Dead Three are somehow involved, with each of our three antagonists revealed so far representing one of them
I hasten to say that I have no more evidence than any of you that this is what is going on. The sneak preview I've been talking about didn't give me any insight into the ultimate baddie or what or who the Absolute actually is. Or how the mindflayers are tied into any of it. I don't think we're short of mysteries despite the antagonist reveals we've had so far!
TBF with the last one being all about murder and that Bhaal symbol with her... No it's not that subtle. They are that.
As for Mindflayers... maybe they are trying to stop them in the most convoluted way possible. Take bunch of powerful people, put this new brand of Tadpole in them and then take them somewhere to do hunger games where the best one wins and put every other in their brain to create the most powerful being imaginable to take care of those 3 loonies. Or... Maybe they try to do something like Bhaal did with Bhaalspawn? They put some weird new tadpoles in people that when combines will create some kind of super Mindflayer?
