I don't know about this Guardian...seems very very sketchy at best. Apparently this guardian is also a real NPC that exists and we meet outside of dreams and was designed to be a potential romance option created by the player but stuff just doesn't add up. We're not just dreaming up somebody and poof that person exists...no, the guardian is most likely someone important in disguise. Potentially even a god or goddess trying to either guide us to prevail or to lead us to our doom so we cannot prevail against the rising evil...but who? Well the very same blog post mentions Orin who is either an avatar of Bhaal or Bhaal himself...and Orin is a shapeshifter who as the article points out could even be someone in your camp. Calling it now...Orin is suspect numero uno.

And the way this "guardian" urges the player character to embrace and use the powers of the tadpole while promising protection...I don't buy that, not for one second. It's not impossible that the guardian could be a benevolent deity urging you to drastic measures in desperate times but I think there's like 5% chance of that and 95% the guardian is someone like Bhaal. In early access the overwhelming theme for the now so called "guardian" was desire...something or someone extracted from the player character's mind and are using that in an attempt to manipulate the player. We should also be very weary of this guardian because it is almost certainly someone very powerful that we most likely cannot fight in the early an mid game, the most we can hope is to maybe reveal their true nature and intents but even that might be a ludicrously difficult task.
