I'm not sure the legendary items would be items from D&D per se, it seems Larian likes to tinker with them quite a bit to synergize with their interpretations of class strengths and weaknesses, though I am welcome to eat my words. I think the amount of them is not really concerning, as it is really Larian just trying to open up avenues of play and distinguishing the power curves of classes a bit more, after all, like Tuco mentioned, BG2 was not stingy with these things by any means.

It was throwing +3 weapons at you very quickly, not to mention other items of ridiculous power relatively early in the game. Given they've likely balanced the difficulty of subsequent battles within the confines of characters equipping these kinds of items, it would seem to be a bit foolish not to utilize them.

It would be nice to have some D&D magic items besides +x weapons and armor and consumables. I guess the Gloves of Dexterity or Warped Band of Intellect, i.e. altered D&D magic items, may be the best one can hope for. Handing out 'Legendary' items in a game capped at level 12 is an interesting decision. I guess we already have the Sussure weapon, it silences on hit no save, pretty legendary to me.

After watching the video I want to say two things:

- You will get flooded with magic items.
Even in EA its easy to have a special magic item (not just generic +1 stuff) in every slot. And the video says you will get much more later in the game.
Personally I do not like that. I liked BG1 where it takes some time to find a magic weapon at all and unique magic stuff is very rare or expensive.
BG2 had much more but it still felt fine. ToB went way too far.
If you find special stuff around every corner it stops feeling special.

- He says that profiencies are very importent because lots of equipment (e.g. helmets and shoes) need profiency.
My opinion:
- Most players who play on normal or easy don´t need to care. You get flooded with stuff so you surely find something useful for every char.
- Races with profiencies (dwarf, gith) will become popular, especially for classes without armor and especially now that stat bonusses seem to be no longer connected to race.
- Players who want to solo the game or play the hardest difficulty will do crazy stuff to become gods. (random hypothetical example: My gith sorc absolutely needs heavy armor profiency. Because heavy helmet x together with greatsword y and buff z will double my fireball damage and they ignore resistences so I can blast everything with 3 fireballs in a round before the enemy can do anything)

Im certainly interested in items ...
Most of all is Items from Act II. will make all items from Act I. irellevant ... or if there will be some possible overlap, so our past efforts dont become completely void.

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown
