Gloves of the Growling Underdog - Advantage on melee attack rolls when surrounded by two or more foes.
Actually, that's not really correct (potentially). The exact text we see in the video is "Gives you an advantage on your melee attack rolls while surrounded by two or more folks". So
- You gain "an advantage". It does not say Advantage, as in
the Advantage concept of 5E. Do I think that the game's code gives you Advantage ? Yes. But that's not what the tooltip unequivocally says.
- You gain that bonus if you're surrounded by "two or more folks". So (a) it doesn't specify that they have to be hostiles, in fact one of these folks could definitely be an ally ; and (b) if you're surrounded by 2 foes that are not folks (such as Beasts or Monstrosities), it's not clear that you gain the bonus.
As I said in my earlier comment about this, I don't know to what extent the text we see in this video is the actual BG3 text. If the Fextralife guy wrote this himself, then fine. If that's the BG3 text, oh my dog, this is sloppy and very bad style.
