It's not impossible that the guardian could be a benevolent deity urging you to drastic measures in desperate times but I think there's like 5% chance of that and 95% the guardian is someone like Bhaal. In early access the overwhelming theme for the now so called "guardian" was desire...something or someone extracted from the player character's mind and are using that in an attempt to manipulate the player. We should also be very weary of this guardian because it is almost certainly someone very powerful that we most likely cannot fight in the early an mid game, the most we can hope is to maybe reveal their true nature and intents but even that might be a ludicrously difficult task.
