Another game set in Icewind Dale could probably be nice indeed. But tbf there's a lot of locations in the Forgotten Realms they could choose that hasn't yet had a nice CRPG.
Nobody's perfect... I'm a nobody.

I like the Icewind Dale setting, but, and I’ve said this before, Planescape! That would perfectly match Larian’s sensibility and design philosophy.

I respect your love for spine of the world. I'm old and no longer like winter, Love the companions though. I would like to see something really out there. Desert / Mulhorand Thay / Red wizards
DRAGON FIRE-AND DOOM Dragons? Splendid things, lad-so long as ye look upon them only in tapestries, or in the masks worn at revels, or from about three realms off... Astragarl Hornwood, Mage of Elembar - Year of the Tusk

I would like to see Larian stick with D&D 5e permanently(only 5e, ignore everything else Wizards of the Coast are doing), but I would like to see them create their own world within 5e. Same major deities and other planes of existence but entirely new central world...new continents, all new countries and adventures, etc.

To a new world with intricate AND CONSISTENT worldbuilding with DND mechanics... yes. To a game set somewhere in WOTC properties... yes. To Icewind Dale specifically... eh...

Lot of Forgotten Realms stuff used to revolve around the Dalelands. Shadowdale, Deepingdale, Scardale, etc...
I think it would be fun to have a game centered on that area, sandwiched between Cormyr and the city states to the north around, what was it?, the moonsea, I think? That's where Hillsfar and Zhentil Keep were. I don't know how much of that has changed over the various iterations of the setting though.

Even just an Icewind Dale as DLC for this would be super-welcome.
Or a sequel to BG3 set in.... Amn! You track the origins of the Mind Flayers'operation back to the sewers of Athkatla....
Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

The good thing about BG3 is that it will probably create demand for more D&D CRPG's. Also from other developers. Maybe we'll eventually get a AAA Forgotten Realms game that plays like 5e. Probably tabletop rules will improve with One D&D as well, and video game needs won't be forgotten.
I still don't like Larian's gameplay ideas and "must haves" for an RPG. Maybe they can license the engine to someone else.

I hope not. I don't want to be denied yet another D&D game.

I'd rather want to see DLCs or expansions to BG3, some higher level adventure. But a Drizzt cameo would be nice, BG1 and BG2 had it after all.

Umm...you want a D&D game not made by Larian so you come to the Larian forums in a thread that is SPECIFICALLY about what game Larian should do next to say that...riiight. Well...I found the perfect D&D game for you. Not made by Larian so you don't have to worry about being denied. Enjoy!

I don't see IWD being in their wheelhouse. They like creating Origin characters, and IWD was not narrative heavy by any means. It was basically an overworld dungeon crawler with a complete set of custom made characters. That said, I think the engine they have developed from BG3 could lend itself quite well to an IWD3 but I simply don't see them having the interest due to the simplicity of the setting. Plus I think with the street cred they get from BG3, they could probably make any other D&D game and have their own fresh story untrammeled by expectations and nostalgia and have it do just fine.

They'd have to create an entirely new narrative for it from the ground up. Which might not be the worst thing in the world. It would give them the chance to create their own characters in a heavy narrative adventure in D&D.

Unfortunately the Planescape setting is utterly dead but letting Larian have a go at it has the potential to be brilliant. They can do things as dark as they like and still have all the room in the world for wacky fun. The only real problem, aside from getting permission from WOTC, is creating a protagonist that doesn't feel like a letdown after TNO and thematic music that doesn't suffer when compared with the nostalgia factor of PST music. And NPCs that can stand up to Morte and Dakkon.

Well, first I want DLC and expansions (or a sequel) to get my BG3 character to level 20 and finish their story, then Larian can consider their next game

Well, first I want DLC and expansions (or a sequel) to get my BG3 character to level 20 and finish their story, then Larian can consider their next game I would absolutely love to go to at least level 18 if not all the way to 20 so an expansion would be extremely welcome. But in terms of the narrative story of Baldur's Gate and the dead three, I suspect that will end here, in the main story of BG3. The reason I believe that is because of some of the things Larian Have been saying about the The Dark Urge and the fact that we get to face all of the dead three here or at least their avatars. They emphasized how the Dark Urge could keep companions around but that would mean giving up some power...that rings as a not so subtle hint at precisely how the dead 3 came to power. Before them only one deity was the god of Murder, Death, and Tyranny...but when they got to the end of the road and the power was theirs for the taking...well...there were three of them, and neither could defeat the other two. It sounds like that may ultimately be the exact dilemma that our character's party will face if we go down the evil path. And all three members of the dead three will be there...should we defeat them, their power will be ours for the taking and it might be possible for the three titles to once again be unified and belong to one deity...a new evil god of Murder, Death, and Tyranny.
