Ohh right, right. I forgot about that. But I think that would also happen if you play another origin character probably.

Yeah I don't really know much about that new dreams/guardian stuff, I'm trying to avoid further spoilers whenever possible xD whether the hostile reactions were part of DU or just you rejecting the tadpole I have no idea.

Honestly it doesn't sound too much fun even as an evil character if you don't like obligate murerhoboing and want to be something a little more subtle.

If I wasn't afraid that I'd be getting a truncated 'default' story playing Tav, I wouldn't touch DU with a ten foot pole. And the fact that by all indications Larian has given Tav no longer has any sort of 'Tav story' makes me feel that's kinda just the way things are.

'No story' vs 'serial killer' just doesn't sound that appealing a choice for a custom character in a game like this that otherwise sells itself heavily on its massive amount of unique story content (origin characters)

I find it interesting and I'm not too worried about the forced stuff precisely because Tav is there if I really despise DU or how it works mechanically. I get what you mean partially, but at the end of the day you can play DU once to see its origin story and then play Tav or other origin. We also don't really know how DU works, we know there's some scenarios were you lose control of your actions and we know if you try to resist the urge you'll eventually need to roll (something, Sven said intimidation but I don't know if that's a manner of speech or literally intimidation) against it.

We don't know if you'll be able to avoid the forced scenes if you ALWAYS refuse your urges from the very start (although it doesn't seem likely)

Just follow your heart I guess (?) xD

key features

origin characters

"offer a hand-crafted experience, each with their own unique traits, agenda and outlook on the world.
their story intersect with the entire narrative and your choices will determine whether those stroies end in redemption, salvation, domination or many other outcomes"

from https://baldursgate3.game/about/

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i think origin characters have their limitations, because of their unique traits and agenda.

the limitations of origin characters give the origin characters go to the bad ends easier than tav,
and can not reach tav's altitude.

i suppose as : gale and the goddess of magic are deadlock. if gale just try redemption, this will lead an ok end.
but if gale wants more and try to dominate the goddess again, and then gale will gain the worst end.

the dark urge's deadlock is his/her dark urge. if the dark urge just try redemption, this will lead an ok end.
but if the dark urge obeys his/her dark urge, adn then the dark urge will gain his/her worst end.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

tav doesn't have any deadlock, i think this can unlock many hidden plots that only tav can touch.
i used to hear the official statement "compares with the origin characters, tav is the real core. we will see the difference between bg3 with dos 2.".

When you're on the boat on the way to Grymforge (Grymforge wasn't even implemented at the time) you got the narrator giving you a rundown of the stuff you did up until that point and the last phrase she says is:

My suspicion was that Tav and DU were always meant to be one thing but at some point in development they made them 2 separate things. Maybe it was because the DU was too dark for some people or because they thought losing control of your character at some points was going to make some people unhappy or what, but it seems to be the case.

If you prove to be correct with this idea, then I for one would be very happy with this change.
