I would absolutely love to go to at least level 18 if not all the way to 20 so an expansion would be extremely welcome. But in terms of the narrative story of Baldur's Gate and the dead three, I suspect that will end here, in the main story of BG3.

The reason I believe that is because of some of the things Larian Have been saying about the The Dark Urge and the fact that we get to face all of the dead three here or at least their avatars. They emphasized how the Dark Urge could keep companions around but that would mean giving up some power...that rings as a not so subtle hint at precisely how the dead 3 came to power. Before them only one deity was the god of Murder, Death, and Tyranny...but when they got to the end of the road and the power was theirs for the taking...well...there were three of them, and neither could defeat the other two. It sounds like that may ultimately be the exact dilemma that our character's party will face if we go down the evil path. And all three members of the dead three will be there...should we defeat them, their power will be ours for the taking and it might be possible for the three titles to once again be unified and belong to one deity...a new evil god of Murder, Death, and Tyranny.
