We know that saved games in pre-release will not carry over to the full game. Will there at least be some way of ensuring that the names of created pre-release characters are reserved for use in the full game?

You could just write them down. Seems simple enough.

It isn't a MMO, so you don't have to be afraid, that your favorite character name is already taken.
