For me it's definitely going to be a regular Tav.
Classwise I'm looking for something that can fight but ideally also works as a party face because of skills. My first idea was to go for a Paladin, but while looking up interesting multiclass options, I stumbled upon the absolute hilarity of an "angry rogue" build that multiclasses barbarian and rogue to basically give oneself advantage for sneak attacks, so that's probably what I'm going for. Race will most likely be (Half-)Drow or possibly Duergar.

Since Helia isn't a thing anymore, I will play a halfling lorebard/feylock. A mixture between Helia and one of my DnD characters. Yay for Bardlocks! Mine will be a Lorebard/GOOlock.

I was planning on doing a half-drow sorcerer, but with the changes made to racial attribute scores I'm gonna hold off on that until there are some mods to revert them. Since that plan is out the window, I'm gonna do a Zariel tiefling paladin instead.

Most likely it'll be either
A multiclass Wild Magic Sorcerer / Fey Warlock. Weird shit happens around me. Embrace the fickleness of fate.
A draconic bloodline (lightning variant) Storm Sorceress. No, she doesn't really have electric hair, that's just in the stories they tell.
Not sure about race yet, but with the removed racials ASIs it won't be a human, that's for sure.

I have been looking for naming rules, but have not found anything. I take it from your name, spaces are allowed in our name.

Prolly Custom for the first 2-3 playthroughs, then Dark Urge, then Laezel and Shadowheart.
Will prolly end up playing through this game 8-12 tims+ over the next 10+ years XD.
"They say he who smelt it dealt it." Sooo technically... this burnt corpse is your fault officer."

I wanted to play Durge first and just do a no-plan, fish-out-of-water run. But Swen recommends not playing Durge first. I want to trust his recommendation, but I'm worried the reactivity and diversity isn't as good as people claim it will be, leaving me with an "okay" first run, and then subsequent slight variations on that run with Origins. If the game really is fundamentally different each run based on the smallest factors, I'll go Custom. If not, Durge. I prefer the "weirder" races, so I am thinking either:
Race: Tiefling, Githyanki, or Dragonborn (in that order of preference). Class: Sorcerer, Warlock, or Paladin (in that order). MAYBE Monk. Background: Idk. Probably something with INT, WIS, or CHA proficiencies. Party: Need a Caster, a Healer, a Melee Tank, and a Sneaker, so probably: -Shadowheart (Healer), if I go Paladin, swap with Gale or Halsin. -Karlach (Melee Tank) -Astarion (Sneaker, but if he dies being a little shithead, then Halsin or Minsc)
Remember the human (This is a forum for a video game):

My first character is going to be a Tiefling Light Cleric of Ilmater in a multiplayer campaign with some friends. I haven't played Early Access, so I don't know how deep the roleplaying opportunities are, but I like the idea of juxtaposition between self-sacrifice and self-hatred.
I'm a big fan of Paladins but want to save that playthrough for non-multiplayer to avoid the oaths causing problems. And I know I'll want to do an evil playthrough at some point, but haven't decided what I want to play for that yet (Drow Rogue? Shadow Monk? Spore Druid? Warlock? Or maybe a Dragonborn Sorcerer? I want to play everything).

Haven't decided between monk, rogue (with Astarion) or Paladin.

Since we start at lv 1, im thinking of playing a pissed off house wife, who's husband sat around all day drunk, and now I have to go down the street to the market to get some pigs feet and beans, and what do you know,
I get hit in the back and now I'm on this strange alien ship, with the scariest looking 7 foot tall monster thing with purple skin, oh if I make it out of this, George is %$#$# out of luck, because im going to my mom's!!
DRAGON FIRE-AND DOOM Dragons? Splendid things, lad-so long as ye look upon them only in tapestries, or in the masks worn at revels, or from about three realms off... Astragarl Hornwood, Mage of Elembar - Year of the Tusk

Tiefling or Dragonborn Bard with possible Dark Urge. I haven't played the ea so I'm going to pick something that sounds fun and see what happens.

Well...it has been quite some time since the last time a game inspired me to do something like this. And BG3 isn't even out.
Here is...Vaenye Andrallat
Not-so-proud member of a minor house in an unspecified drow city, and one of the probably not too rare drow who hate Lolth and her priestesses, but never dare say so because that can adversely affect your health. Too careful to be a rebel, too free-thinking to conform, she kept alive by keeping a low profile and spending, intermittently, half of her life in the cracks of drow society [urchin background]. She also had a knack for magic but that never amounted to much beyond theory because of the fixed gender roles in her society. Anyone can be a fighter, but as a rule only men are wizards and sorcerers while high-status women (among which she was not) become priestesses. [Which is why she starts this adventure at level 1].
Then there is the dragon. As a drow you learn to be self-reliant. After all in the absence of external enemies, the most deadly danger for any drow is another drow, and you never feel safe unless you’re alone. So she made expeditions into the cave systems surrounding the city on her own, and on one such expedition she found an egg. It had a crack. A little dragon with brown-red metallic scales hatched while she watched. She liked it instantly, but of course she couldn’t keep it. It would only end up on a bloody altar. It couldn’t be far to the cave where the mother lived, and she found it. There was a scary encounter with an incensed mother dragon who understandably did not trust her one bit at the start, but eventually came to understand that Vaenye had saved her child. The dragon gave her a gift she conveyed with a touch. An invisible one, she said, and that it might be some time before she could make use of it [Draconic bloodline sorcery]. It also changed the color of her eyes to an odd shade of violet-tinged grey [not sure if the CC has that...hmm].
Some time later her stealth skill failed her and on another expedition, she was caught by a patrol of illithid thralls, to become yet another subject of the experiment the illithids were running on the surface. But coming to the surface, her magic began to stir. As the nautiloid that held her captive crashed, she fell to the floor, and there was a strange noise outside. A loud crack, followed by a gentle roll. She did not know what it was, but it called to her. Something like blue fire materialized in her open hand. And she was forever lost to her old home.

Against the recommendations of the dev team, I'm interested in trying Dark Urge first, I think it'll have an interesting tie to the previous games. But my interest is in creating a character built to resist Urges to do violence, because I don't like playing evil usually.
So maybe a Cleric or something. I have a theory that not every Urge will be our choice, so a good Wisdom save could help resist against the Urge being forced on us. I'm not sure about the race or anything like that.
Other options I'm thinking of is a Swords Bard, maybe Abjuration Wizard.
I'm hesitant to play Normal Custom because I don't like how it seems to be getting shafted once again, just like in DOS2. If Dark Urge ends up having the dream lover as well, then it would feel like it's pointless to play Normal Custom from a content perspective.

I will use the basic Tav, but otherwise I have "prepared" two different ideas, depending on my mood when I can finally play:
An older human Researcher who made a Pact with an Archfey, to gain more knowledge. While not exactly open with things he himself knows, he tends to be a rather helpful and nice person. He tries to evade violence, since he does not really feel at home on a battlefield. He is rather interested in Karlach to ...protect him.
The other character is also an aging human Pactmage. But he made the pact for magical abilities that help him in his completely legitimate business. He ..finds lost items and sells them for a finders fee, but many claim he is just a criminal. While he loathes to break his word and acts generally friendly and affable, he is not really a good person. As long as hi did not give his word, he will backstab persons if he sees a benefit - and sometimes just to seduce someone he becomes interested in. He is also rather careful, maybe even cowardly, and evades risks if possible.

Not fully decided. Either Monk, Paladin or Warlock. IF I go Warlock I will probably do Wyll as the interaction with Mizora looks fun. I am not sure if you are a warlock tav that the interaction will be anywhere as cool. If Monk torn right now between half elf or half orc, depends on how the orc looks. Paladin may be multiclassed with warlock. I am also not totally sold on if a custom tav will have as good a story as an origin character, I know in DOS2 the custom character was somewhat lackluster. The main story is pretty cool, I have around 500 hours in EA alone, but adding a cool story along with the main story seems it would be more fun. I am not that interested in Dark Urge, so looks like either custom or Wyll.
