No, "actually" it isn't.
It is. Larian make 5e actually fun instead of boring slog it is in tabetop.

Ok, remind me how that works? The rules say, iirc, you can't cast two leveled spells, only a leveled + cantrip, ever. So the Quicken rule does't change that - it simply talks about moving casting to a bonus action instead. That is how Solasta implements it - I played a sorcerer there - and that seems to be the description that is consistent with rules? That's how I've always read it. It is only 2 sorcery points to quicken - which is a tiny cost to pay, so not sure how any DM would interpret this to be Quicken in the old 3.5/PF sense (where it was spell level +4 , so hugely costly). Well, let me rephrase that any DM but larian ;-)
No, you have it 100% (well, actually ~90%) correct. Especially that last line.

Larian made changes to
- general spellcasting rules (normal BA spells can be cast on the same turn as action-cost leveled spells)
- Quicken rules (quickened BA spell can be cast on the same turn as an action-cost leveled spell)
- Haste (instead of allowing only a single attack action/Dash/Disengage/Hide/Use Object, BG3 allows you to cast a spell with your hasted action)

Technically, per 5e RAW, you *can* cast two leveled spells per turn as long as neither of them is a bonus action. Counterspell and Fireball? Fine. Action-surged Fireball+Fireball? Fine.

In raw you need two different creatures to target so no double disintegrate or other shenanigans like that in encounters against 1x Big Bad Evil major encounter whatever you wanna call it.
Now with the Larian change lmao why even bother respec all your dudes with your free respec to sorcs and one shot whatever is throw at you.

Incidentally, your personal (and frankly irrelevant) contempt for D&D is not enough to make the analogy pertinent.

But even putting this aside, your argument would hold more water in isolation, if it wasnt' that we are all experiencing what Larian is making with rules and balances. And nine times out of ten is a mess.
I mean, they joke themselves about how THEIR implementation of metamagic "entirely breaks the game".

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

Yep, I was ignoring reaction spells wink - those allow violation of 2 leveled spells constraint . There maybe some other options, but they are not something you can do all the time... so less bothersome (exceptf or AS with no resting constraint means it is use din *every* combat) ... My problem as always is that this stuff is going to be used on my party, so I'll have to do similarly OP/broken stuff and that makes me very very sad. And by stuff I mean pretty much all the homebrew smirk

Example: spore power of whathisface - I used that to raise the bullette. I didn't think it would work - this was a powerful creature after all ...it had all its old powers (!)...That's crazy! spells like create undead have very low per unit CR/HD limits for example.

Im a little sad that Druid Forms and Beastmaster pets will be changing over time. frown

I mean, it makes sense ... we gain levels, they gain levels, there are stronger oponents, so our pets/forms should be stronger aswell.
But on the other hand, it seems unnecessary ...

Maybe im in minority here, but i would really appreacite if our old forms / pets would only get better stats, so our Ranger could go trough whole game with one faithful animal. frown

Same goes for Druids ...
I dont care what other options are there, Halsin should allways turn into bear in my headcannon ... or at least most often ... if his Bear form will be one-shotet in end game, it will feel odd. frown

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown

I'm forgetting exactly what I heard where, but wasn't there something about ranger pets getting larger, and getting armour or something like that in one of the things that has been shared? I read that as them being the same pets but growing and getting barding, kind of like in the Pathfinder games. But perhaps that was just wishful thinking, as I also like the idea of rangers with one faithful animal, even if they can sometimes ask others to help out.

I'm wondering if Halsin's shapechanging will be a standard moon druid one or if it might be homebrewed in some way, especially as we also have Jaheira as a (presumably) normal druid. And if people are right that he might be a werebear or otherwise have some non-standard relationship with his animal form. Perhaps he will be locked to an increasingly powerful bear form? Probably unlikely, I know.

Lets all be glad Icelyn's positiveness and fun seeking hasn't impacted Solasta's brilliant gameplay development smile
A true Larian fan.
Call me crazy but I still think DOS2's gameplay is way funner than BG3.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

I still want Scratch to be available as an animal companion.

And, of course, I still want Shovel to stick around permanently.

Shovel, and our friend Us.
I also don't understand why Shovel can talk, but my warlock familiar can not...

Larian's gameplay designers, ladies and gentlemen.

As a sorcerer fan, in none of my Early Access games I have abused that. I usually go for a Subtle Spell because it is more thematic (and I hate being silenced). But after they have reconfirmed the feature... well... I might eventually give up and start using it. After all, the rule of every table is: the GM can always houserule things. My guess is that if you can do it, other NPCs can do it, too.

So many things to consider. :P

I guess that might balance their shoving as a bonus action that is one of the more frightening features if your main is not great in neither Athletics, nor Acrobatics.

I believe their words were something like: "Pets will become larger, stronger, their names will change and some may even get some armor."

So my reading in this is progress type: Wolf - Big Wolf - Dire Wolf - Worg - Armoured Worg

It have its charm, doesnt it?
Having an Elf who is followed with his good friend Panther for last few years and countless adventures. smile

I wouldnt advocate for locking ... neither with pets, nor druid forms.
I just think they should remain relevant.

Like ... hells i dunno ...
We know Druids will get displacer beast and owlbear right?
I am personaly kinda oldschool and dont like my druid to turn into monstrosities, even tho they are concidered "animalistic enough" by Larian ... resp. WotC.

Easy fix imho ...
Is to give Bear updated stats, as you get Owlbear ... so they have same attack and hp ... and difference is just either skin, or different actions.
Same goes for Displacer beast ... we know that our druids will be able to transform into Panther ... just make their stats same.

But i realize its much easier to just give us stronger forms, then making several versions of the same. frown

D:OSS were build from the ground up to revolve around Larian’s tomfoolery.
