I mentioned this in another thread, but I feel like it's a reasonably on-topic tangent to what you're bringing up.
I always default to the good choices myself, because they just feel more natural. But after trying a few different playthroughs like that, I play through with an awful character, mostly to see how the game reacts. I think of it as a game played between myself and the game designers. "What do you do if I do this?!" Some games reward you for this, almost always with amusing dialog. Outer Worlds does something wonderful, where they reward you with amusing dialog that explains how much more difficult they're going to make things for you as a consequence.
What feels new about Durge is that Swen suggests they'll reward you in game-play ways for making those choices, and I'm not sure I've ever encountered that before.
