As long as you are playing single player I guess it doesn't matter if you save scum but be aware this is a D&D based game...which means that in order to save scum you have to be able to pass certain checks in the first place...and if you don't have the proficiencies and bonuses necessary you may not be able to pass the very hard checks at all and some may require a lot of reloading. Now if you hit a nat1 on a roll you should easily be able to pass and that ends up resulting in the death of a party member or something terrible then sure. But I really wouldn't try to make playthrough that is all about save scumming every little thing that goes wrong.
