No one mentioned Dragonlance yet? That already comes with the "choose from this list of pregenerated characters" shtick.
I would be down for this. The Dragonlance Gold box games were awesome. Since Larian set out to prove they could do dark and gritty Dark Sun is open to them as well (although i would much rather prefer Dragonlance myself even though i am an FR die hard). Heck keep all the developers and break them into a DL and FR team.
