He is related to Bhaal. In the trailer he is standing in a room with his butler and Orin where there is a giant symbol of Bhaal. A partial glyph of Bhaal lights up under his feet and he turns into the slayer. And the butler says “you are the chosen one.”
Plus, he is driven to murder in a series that has historically been about being a child of the god of murder.
