It took me a bit, but I think I figured out my problems. I restarted with a new character and all of the hit %s were 80-100% and it was much easier than before. I had no idea what was going on with that first character. I also realized there's more cheese in combat than I/GM would allow, so I was even able to defeat the cambian and mind flayer in helm on my second character (without save scumming). The one thing I didn't see was the "tutorial" hidden in the journal (j). After reading through those items, it showed me that a bunch of commands are keys on keyboard and not everything is a button (I stopped playing keyboard/mouse PC games a long time ago and prefer console since it's easier to play with hand/wrist/joint issues).
Wait… you beat Zhalk, the extra cambions, and the Mind Flayer instead of just running to the transponder???
Pretty sure this is a "long troll" situation. It's a pattern.
The initial post is always "help me I don't know what's going on" and yet has a dearth(lack of) of actual useful details which everyone has to ask for.
We are at the "I kilt the hard baddy's, did I doos good?" stage of the long troll.
Trust me, there is no payoff. Leave it alone.
