Forgive my lack of knowledge about 5ed, which means I can blame WoTC for some (or all) of those points not Larian, but there are couple of race choices I miss in character creation, that from what I see even won't change in 1.0

* Lack of human subraces - I'd appreciate having a chance to play Cornyrean, Calishite or Tethyrean, even if only for flavour. Just having subrace name on the character sheet would be enough for me. If they'd add some small variety in skill bonuses, that would be absolutely fantastic.
* I don't like this generic approach to elven races, with high elves apparently grouping together sun and moon elves. I liked this distinction in 3rd edition and I deeply miss it in BG3. I suspect this was changed in 5ed and Larian simply followed the rulebook. Still, I'm not happy about it.
* Again, this is something that may have been changed in 5ed, but I miss ghostwise halflings subrace. If I'd ever roll a halfling character, I'd have rolled ghostwise halfling.
* Lack of aasimars. This is a solid argument for those, who claims Larian is limiting good-aligned options. I don't see a good reason for adding tieflings and not aasimars, except lack of time to implement them. I really hope aasimars will be added post release at some point.
