+1 - exactly, they last until long rest and they don't over-write anything and they are cheap.

And they are all over the place. I use them all the time and I generally have 2-3 on hand without every having to buy one. Wasting a spell slot or an item slot is a complete waste when a 30gp potion will solve the problem.

I generally have well over 15k in cash before even hitting the underdark, so I wouldn't sweat a few dozen gp. There are also amulets or rings for most of the useful noncombat spells out there, and a little money and/or searching is a much better use of your resources as every spell slot counts when a fight could be right around the corner.

I early access, yes, but it's possible things will be different in full release.

I suspect it'll be similar though.

One of the best places to get animal speaking potions is to trade with Volo. At least in early access, he has five of them in his inventory. You can buy them from him. Or steal them, I suppose.

Not just hearsay, it 100% works with Speak with Dead.

Which I feel like is 100% working as intended. It makes perfect sense that a barely sentient soul with vacant eyes would be able to recognize someone whose magical disguise is capable of concealing their identity from living creatures.

The communication should be much more basic. But Larian had to take it too far and humanize the animals.

That's right. Above all with the spiders (Stridulation) I have it at that time already reported. Their sentences should only be able to be interpreted. Personally, I prefer to speak only with the dead and not with animals and plants.

I've always hated this argument. It's freaking magic, it is doing its job to translate the way an animal thinks into something comprehensible to a humanoids mind.
You mentioned speak with the dead, which I am guessing you have no problem using with dead humanoids who don't speak common but communicate telepathically, like mind flayers, what about other living beings that don't speak common? Maybe I'm wrong and maybe you are frustrated that people can communicate with each other in a video game, and you don't want anything in the underdark to be able to talk to you, but geez it is a really petty complaint.

Don't worry, I'm not that lacking in solidarity, especially since I don't care overall. I can understand both your points of view. At the time I reported it, I was of course going by my purely subjective impression. My report was also more of a suggestion than a complaint.... I don't report a thousand things one by one, but as holistically as possible, and that was then in the context of the German translation. I didn't just think about a simple correct translation, but also about immersion, logic, context, etc., which is how the report came about. I tend to agree with 1varangian, but the bottom line for me is that it doesn't matter if the spiders speak directly or it is paraphrased indirectly. So this has nothing to do with frustration at all. I think your argument is just as strong as 1varangian's counter argument.

I would even go so far as to suggest that the two spells Speak with Animals & Speak with Plants should have been tweaked into one, i.e. Speak with Natural Beings or something like that.
