If kept as-is, shield dwarf worlock is pretty gishy. They get their charisma to hit and damage, dwarf gives them proficiency in medium armor and battle axe. Max 3 spells per short rest but you get other spells as well. Decent gish material.

Like a pact of the tome or chain warlock? I mean I guess you could do that if you really wanted to. I don't think anyone would ever consider it optimal.
So I guess, sure if you want to get all MAD you could technically make a strength based human wizard using a polearm and focusing on abjuration spells, but at that point just multiclass a bit into something that at least gets you a second attack.

I dunno man, it seems like a bit of a stretch to claim that polearm proficiency is a great start to turn a full caster into a gish.
