I had the same impression of PoE during the first play through. Didn’t care much for the story, since i didn’t know / understand the lore. But then i replayed it again with all DLCs, and it clicked. Wow, it was good. I now consider it’s story one of the best in gaming overall, it hit me like a truck when i understood what’s going on. Then PoE 2 revealed the last mysteries, and finished with a bang.

Give it another go, maybe you’ll appreciate it more.
