You do realize that scene is purely based on player choices, right? You can just not recruit him as a companion or not romance the druid or if you do you can just not tell him to shapeshift into a bear. I'll probably just kill the druids in act one so I can recruit Minthara as a companion later. That goes for any other companion you might not like. If you don't like any of the companions with stories you could even have them all killed early and then you can roll with hirelings or even by yourself.
