Sadly that kind of behavior is fairly common in some parts of the internet. But fortunately the ones behaving like that are a very small minority. If you look at the game on steam it has a "Very Positive" rating from both all time reviews and recent reviews. The best thing you can do is just not engage with the toxic people.
